How to use Taosis
Taosis is a read-first explorer for the Bittensor dTAO economy: prices, wallets, news and risk for every subnet, with optional trading and alerts. You can do most of it without connecting anything — here’s the whole tour in six steps.
- 01
Start with the screener — no wallet needed
The Screener lists every Bittensor subnet with its live α/τ price, 1h/24h/7d change, pool depth and the best validator’s APR. Click any column header to sort; type in the filter box to find a subnet by name or number; use Columns to show extra data (EMA price, emission, age, owner…). Open a row for that subnet’s chart, holders, conviction, risk and news. Nothing here asks you to connect anything.
- 02
Look up any wallet or subnet in the Explorer
Paste any address into the Explorer — Taosis works out whether it’s a coldkey or a hotkey and shows what it holds, its α positions with average buy price, its staking, and a plain-language history of what happened to it. A subnet number or name opens that subnet. All of this is public on-chain data, so no wallet connection is required to read it.
- 03
Connect a wallet only when you want to act
To trade or to create alerts tied to your address, connect a wallet with the Connect button. We recommend SubWallet because it supports a Ledger hardware wallet; Polkadot.js and Talisman also work. Connecting only reveals your public address — nothing is signed or spent until you explicitly approve a transaction in your wallet.
- 04
Swap α on any subnet
On the Trade page (or the Buy/Sell panel on a subnet), choose an amount and a validator, and set a slippage tolerance — the swap signs a price-limited stake, so it reverts (or partially fills, if you allow it) rather than executing far from the price you saw. The quote shows the network fee and the Taosis fee (15% of the network fee only) before you sign. On Ledger, if the bundled fee transfer is refused, the swap falls back to two separate signatures so the trade still goes through.
- 05
Set alerts — the one paid feature
On the Alerts page you can watch a subnet’s α price, the TAO price itself, the news, or chain-state guards (a deregistration, an emission change, an owner change, a pending child-key change, immunity expiring, and more — a category no other Bittensor site has). Reading and creating alerts is free; email delivery costs $12/year, paid once in TAO — no card, no Stripe. The in-app inbox stays free for everyone.
- 06
Read the numbers honestly
A figure Taosis cannot verify is shown as “—”, never as a fake zero — and a risk it cannot estimate is left blank, not called safe. Every market figure is read from the Bittensor chain, not a third-party provider. If you’re new, the Learn pages explain how the α price works, what deregistration risk is, and exactly what we can and cannot know.
Ready?
Open the screener, or read the explainers first. Nothing on Taosis is financial advice.
