Root Reborn claim fee jumped from ~0.056 TAO to ~0.18 TAO with ~125 holdings . Expected behavior?
About SN95 Actual
Hi, I'm trying to understand the claim fee calculation for Root Reborn validator baskets. I have a Root position delegated to a single validator fund. The basket currently contains approximately 125 holdings, with roughly 0.73 TAO of accrued yield. Initially, Taostats estimated the claim fee at approximately 0.056 TAO, which seemed consistent with what I understood about the processing cost of a basket of this size. However, without claiming anything, the estimated fee subsequently increased to approximately 0.163 TAO, and later to around 0.18 TAO, while the basket remained at roughly the same number of holdings. I verified the accrued yield independently using Bittensor 11: btcli root list --coldkey <REDACTED> --network finney --json and the CLI confirms approximately 0.73 TAO accrued. I also investigated btcli root claim --dry-run, but it appears to require access to the signing wallet before constructing/simulating the transaction. For security reasons, I would rather not import or expose my coldkey merely to obtain a fee estimate. My questions are: Is ~0.18 TAO a plausible actual claim cost for a single Root validator basket with ~125 holdings? Could the figure displayed by Taostats represent a reserved/max execution fee rather than the amount ultimately spent? What could cause the estimate to move from ~0.056 → ~0.163 → ~0.18 TAO without a claim and without a major change in the number of holdings? Is there a read-only RPC/runtime call that can reproduce the claim quote or expected actual fee using public information only, without requiring access to the signing wallet? I'm mainly trying to determine whether the ~0.18 TAO represents the expected final cost, a temporary reservation, or possibly an estimation/UI issue. I can provide additional non-sensitive technical information if needed. Thanks! submitted by /u/ixi_is_indamix [link] [comments]
