TaoStats network stats: why does staked_alpha + staked_root exceed total staked?
For context I’m researching Bittensor and trying to understand some TaoStats network figures. Its MCP getNetworkStats response for September 11, 2026 returned these values in the same row (reportedly in TAO): staked: 7,321,069.203332 staked_alpha: 2,606,750.238197 staked_root: 5,473,611.945525 Adding staked_alpha and staked_root gives about 8.08 million TAO, roughly 759,293 TAO more than staked. Does anyone know the exact definitions or formulas behind these fields? Is staked_alpha a market valuation of alpha positions, while staked measures something different? Or do these categories overlap? The same MCP response also had free_tao exactly equal to issued at 11,330,924.740887, which I’m also struggling to interpret.
